Furnace Sidings: 0-4-0ST 'ROSYTH No 1', Barclays 1385/1914, pulling into Furnace Sidings with a two coach Pontypool & Blaenavon Railway service on 3rd September 2022. The image does not do justice to the effort the wee pug was putting in.

Dalreoch: Men on a mission. View west along platform 1 at Dalreoch early one Sunday morning in September 2007. Taking the left fork at the junction is a service for Helensburgh Central, while marching unwaveringly towards the station exit are the two passengers who alighted from the train.

Hall i' th' Wood: 150003, one of the three car sets more or less dedicated to Clitheroe Rochdale services, pulls away from the staggered platform at Hall i' th' Wood heading towards Bromley Cross on 7th September 2022. The on board announcements pronounced this stop as 'Hallythwood' and who am I to argue with that?

Quorn and Woodhouse: Now this would look good on a chocolate box. BR Std 2MT 2-6-0 78019 hauls a colourful passenger train heading south from Quorn towards Leicester near Swithland in 2007, approaching Rabbit Bridge. Film was taken near here for use in the film Enigma, unfortunately it was used not just to represent the Bedford-Bletchley line, but also the West Coast Main Line!

Craigellachie [2nd]: A BR Sulzer Type 2, on an Elgin-Aviemore service, pictured halfway through shunting operations at Craigellachie in August 1965. The single coach train has been shunted from the Elgin line into the Speyside line platform, and the locomotive has uncoupled in order to run round and continue the journey to Aviemore (see also [[82404]] and [[81089]]).

Eskbank: A weedkiller train on the Borders Railway heading south through Eskbank on a sunny autumn morning in September 2022, with the shadows accentuated by the deep cutting through which the train is passing. Following closure of the Waverley Route, the original cutting here had been infilled up to the level of the bridge in the background and became part of a public walkway. The subsequent decision to reopen the old route as part of the Borders Railway resulted in a long and costly re-excavation project. (See image [[45288]]).
