Stow: 170393, with a Borders Line service from Tweedbank to Edinburgh Waverley, heading away from the camera, having just departed from the reopened Stow station, on 15th May 2016.
Ennis: 0-6-2T No.5 of the West Clare Railway sits on a plinth next to Ennis station in July 1965. The loco was built by Dubs & Co in 1892 and after withdrawl in the early 1950s, it was placed on the plinth. The loco has since been restored and returned to steam in July 2009 and operates on a part recreated West Clare Railway from Moyasta Jct. Photo by A McIntyre.
Abergavenny: Arriva Train Wales 175009 slows as it approaches Abergavenny with a southbound service in November 2008.
Stranraer Harbour: Stranraer Harbour, viewed from PS 'Caledonia' as she arrived on a Clyde Coast charter on 15th May 1965. The 'Caledonian Princess' is berthed on the far side of the pier, shortly to make her regular crossing to Larne.
Eglinton Street: The 11.07 Avanti service from Euston passes the former Eglinton Street station on 3 September 2022.
Bay Horse: Just after the steam hauled 'Dalesman' passed Bay Horse heading north, 66736 'Wolverhampton Wanderers' ran south onto the embankment. This was an MOD working from Longtown to Kineton but as can be seen it was a light load. This possibly explains why it was quite early as it should have passed here in darkness.
Pontrilas: A view of Pontrilas, looking north-east from above Pontrilas Tunnel in November 2008, with a southbound Class 158 held at the signal for the block section to Abergavenny.
Ayr: G&SWR memoriam on the wall of Ayr station.
Horse Park Bridge [LC]: Immediately north of Sedgwick village there is another stretch of the Lancaster Canal that is quite poorly defined. In fact, but for the surviving overbridges, it would be undetectable. This is Horse Park Bridge (179), looking towards Kendal in December 2020. A public footpath follows the canal route making it easy to explore, despite the infilling on this northern section.
Broomloan Depot [Subway]: Battery powered 4-wheel shunter in Broomloan Depot in 1975. Built by British Electric Vehicles of Liverpool in 1927 and supplied to Glasgow Corporation via Wingrove and Rodgers, agents, in 1927. Originally fitted with a jackshaft drive, but then rebuilt 1937/8 with a chain drive. It is now displayed at the Riverside Museum.
Sandilands [Tram]: London Tramlink No.2557 to Wimbledon, arriving at Sandilands, to the east of Croydon, on a beautiful 26th May 2018. This is on the initial section of the tramway that opened in May 2000 from Croydon town centre to New Addington under the name Croydon Tramlink. The name was changed to London Tramlink several years later, which is a bit deceitful as it gives the impression it is a London-wide system when, in fact, it is a small town system in the depths of south London although, theoretically for postal reasons, still within the County of Surrey.
Farnworth: Flex hybrid unit 769431 passes through Farnworth with a Southport to Alderley Edge service on 7th September 2022. This will have run on diesel power Southport to Bolton but will draw from the wires for the remainder of the trip. Although Farnworth is a substantial town, old maps of the area show that the L&YR goods facilities were at nearby Moses Gate rather than here.
