Preston: 86401 arrives at Preston from Carnforth Steamtown with 47848 on 14 September 2022. It is understood that this was a shakedown run for the West Coast Class 86, prior perhaps to it being used to provide extra services to London over the next few days.

Yeovil Town: Sadly, the only diesel engines in the vicinity of Yeovil Town depot are now fitted to cars. The depot was on the right beyond the bridge, which carries a road heading for Yeovil Junction station. The cinema built on the site of the depot will soon close. The station was on the left of this view; there is a pleasant cyclepath from Pen Mill station to Lysander Road.

Tweedmouth: Dock Road Viaduct on the former zig-zag line opened in 1878 to link Tweedmouth goods yard with the recently opened Tweed Dock. The viaduct carried the line from the yard down to a reversing spur in the left background, with the final half mile leg running back via a second viaduct and embankment (now both removed) to reach the dock behind the camera. The line was closed during the 1960s, following which part of the route (including the surviving viaduct) was incorporated in a public walkway. View is south east along Dock Road in October 2012.

Bury Castlecroft Goods: Now that 60009 'Union of South Africa' is on display in Bury Transport Museum visitors can access the cab. To make this easier the loco and tender have been separated slightly (See image [[82304]]) and the A4 is a popular exhibit.

Aviemore: Two Sulzer Type 2 diesels in mid-manoeuvre at Aviemore in 1965. The BR built loco in the foreground brought in a one-coach afternoon service from Elgin via Craigellachie, and the BRCW (later) Class 26 at the far end is ready to shunt the coach into another platform to form the 16.50 to Craigellachie (see image [82323]). Just discernible in the further distance, another Class 26 is heading away with a northbound freight.

Liverpool Pier Head: A 2009 canal, known as the Liverpool Link Tunnels, extends the Leeds and Liverpool Canal down to the Albert Dock, passing in front of the famous waterfront buildings by the Pier Head. This is the view from the 1st floor of the Liverpool Museum, looking northwards along the new waterway which means canal boats can reach city centre moorings without entering the tidal waters.
