Hexham: Long lens view looking east along platform 1 at Hexham on 1 November 2010 as ScotRail DMU 156492 calls with a mid afternoon Stranraer Harbour - Newcastle Central service.
Rutherglen Junction: Britannia 70032 'Tennyson' passing Rutherglen Junction, bound for Carlisle with the 'Scottish Rambler' railtour of Easter Sunday 1967.
Bellgrove: 334021 calls at Bellgrove with a Helensburgh Central to Edinburgh service on 2nd August 2022. The overgrown ground on the left was formerly the course of a double track avoiding line.
Langho: Impressive pulling power from 68019 'Brutus', with an engineers train from Carlisle New Yard to Crewe, climbing the bank through Langho on 7th September 2022. Not the longest train I've seen but most of the wagons were loaded with concrete sleepers so it was very weighty.
Bristol Harbour: 'Balmoral', tied up alongside the A4 Hotwells Road, and seen from a boat trip around Bristol Harbour on 1st September 2022.
Eskbank: Train 3Z97, the 0840 ex-Slateford Depot, passing through Eskbank on an exceptionally bright and sunny 15 September 2022 on a weedkilling mission to Tweedbank. Leading the way is 66187 with 66105 bringing up the rear.
Glasgow Central: Triple stacked on platform 10 at Glasgow Central on 15 October 2008 with 314208 the front unit. A second 314 was behind it and a 318 was on the buffers. Another 318 is seen at the buffers on platform 11.
Stranraer: Stranraer, the end of the line (don't fence me in) next stop Ireland, but only if you go to Cairnryan. Lovely view up Loch Ryan though.
Carlisle Kingmoor Shed: The Coronations looked splendid in any colour, and here is No 46236 'City of Bradford' at Carlisle Kingmoor depot in maroon on 28 April 1963. Class 40 No D223 'Lancastria' completes the picture, and was the motive power for my return journey to Glasgow.
Lock 32 [FCC]: Lock 32 seen in 1999 during works to re-open the Forth and Clyde Canal to navigation. This view looks west downhill at the lock chamber. The canal had been infilled and piped here for quite a long section between the former Cloberhill Opening Bridge (Great Western Road) and above Lock 31, about a third of a mile. To allow the canal to re-open Great Western Road Boulevard was lifted onto two new bridges, a new westward deviation from there to Lock 32 opened, and the original course Blairdardie Road was stopped up and replaced.
Dalgety Bay: The 'Royal Scotsman' nears Dalgety Bay in 2005 behind a class 37 and 31190 'Gryphon'.
Melrose: Surviving British Railways Scottish Region running-in board at the former Melrose station, on the as yet un-restored section of the former Waverley Route that was senselessly closed on 6th January 1969 despite widespread protests. Seen here slumbering quietly in the afternoon sunshine of Sunday, 15th May 2016.
Keppel Pier: MV 'Countess of Breadalbane' passing Millport Keppel pier, on a ferry service from Largs to Millport Old Pier, while DEPV 'Talisman' heads in the other direction towards Largs.
