Burrs Country Park: The Swiss Gentleman's Train (With apologies to The Railway Children!) Visiting LNWR Coal Tank 1054 heads the 14:00 Heywood - Rawtenstall footplate experience train on 14th July 2022. This comprised vans and parcels stock and was driven by a regular visitor from Switzerland, Alex Choremi, who can be seen looking out from the cab.

Heywood: In 2022 the East Lancashire Railway celebrated the 100th anniversary of the merging of the L&YR with the L&NWR with several events including operating some services with the LYR 0-6-0ST No.752 and the LNWR 0-6-2T 'Coal Tank' No.1054. The two old locos are seen at Heywood prior to taking their train to Rawtenstall on 25th June. This was the first time I had been on a double headed steam train. Remarkably, 1054 had a brief main line steam career in the 1980s. See image [[25361]]

Skagen: I would love to have seen a freight train negotiating the branch to Skagen Harbour, between the houses and cafes, but although virtually intact it is disused and seems to have been for some time. This May 2022 view, on a grey and wet day, looks towards the docks near Skagen passenger station, which still has a regular passenger service. Immediately behind the camera was a run round loop alongside the platforms, but again no longer in use.

Umtali: Mozambique Railways (CFM) Beyer-Garratt locomotive number 954 with a baggage coach leaves Umtali (now Mutare) in the then Southern Rhodesia on its way back across the border. On the left the telegraph pole is cast iron rather than wood in order to prevent termite infestation.
