Oxford: EWS liveried DBC 66113 northbound through Oxford with empty car transporters, bound for Jaguar Land Rover at Halewood @ 1326 hours on 23rd September 2021. This very long train had started at Southampton Docks. Note the gradient at the station entrance in the background.

Old Street [GNCR]: The atmospherically gloomy pedestrian subway, from the foot of the steps leading down from the ex-Great Northern & City Railway platforms at Old Street station, on 14th January 2022. Passengers interchanging with the LU Northern Line carry on going down but those who wish to head for the street find that, after descending a considerable distance, they then have to go back up again to the exit but at least at that point there is an escalator.

Reddish South: GBRf 66715 'VALOUR' takes stone from Tunstead through Reddish South on its way to Hope St terminal in Salford on 20th January 2022. The 'Platform 1' sign seemed a little superfluous but the station friends group keep it tidy and, although the next scheduled service from this 'Parliamentary' station wasn't for another two days, the steps and platform had been freshly salted.

Reddish South: Sparse service. Timetable for the Parliamentary service between Stockport and Stalybridge on display by the entrance to Reddish South in January 2022.

Beamish Open Air Museum: The trees have grown somewhat since Veronica Clibbery photographed this Harton Colliery Electric Railway locomotive (see image [[43656]]). Between the length of the rails and the absence of catenary, you wouldn't expect it to disturb anything.

Forge Valley: Views of the former Forge Valley station, which is now standing empty after the site was vacated recently by North Yorkshire C.C. Highways. The station building and platform are still generally intact, although a derelict portable building sits on the platform. The goods shed is in good condition due to it being used for storage of items over the years, and it sits a distance across the station yard from the station building. There is a long entrance road up to the station, with a concrete gatepost on the right by the entrance. What the future holds for the station only time will tell.

Strathcarron: Apologies for the graininess but here is another vintage photo from my archives of the LCGB 1974 'Skyewayman' weekend railtour from Euston to Kyle of Lochalsh, seen here during a stop at Strathcarron on the Saturday morning of 6th April after its overnight journey. This allowed a train from Kyle to Inverness to pass in the loop and provided enough time for tour passengers to alight and stretch their legs. Little did I know then that it would be 45 long years before I would visit the Kyle line again, on a packed 158712 from Inverness on 18th June 2019 (see my photo [[70568]]).

Buchanan Street: A2 No 60527 'Sun Chariot' is about to head back to St Rollox shed from Glasgow Buchanan Street, having brought the morning train from Aberdeen on 26 February 1963. Noteworthy is the cooling tower of the Pinxton power station which was located beside the main line from Queen Street to Edinburgh.

Kings Cross: A Brush Type 2, or class 31 if you prefer, at Kings Cross in 1975. Beyond is the stabling point, some spotters and a sleeper train.

Carlisle Kingmoor Shed: Jubilee 4-6-0 45562 'Alberta' at Carlisle Kingmoor on 25th February 1967, having worked north from Leeds with the 'Border Countryman' railtour (see image number [[75268]]). While the loco was being serviced, the tour visited Beattock behind Ivatt 2-6-0 43106 (see image number [[63324]]). Later in the afternoon the Jubilee took the train back south via Newcastle.
