Lancaster: The very informative screen on a Northern Rail CAF 195 113 DMU next to the auld and infirm seating area. The information on the screen speaks for itself.

Heaton Norris: The huge L&NWR goods warehouse at Heaton Norris, immediately to the north of Stockport Viaduct, is still in commercial use and displaying its origins. The passenger station here closed in 1959 and has been cleared away. As 156497 leads an East Midlands 156/158 set past the warehouse on 20th January 2022, a huge Emirates A380 above has its wheels down on finals for Manchester Airport.

Hag Fold: 158756 arrives at Hag Fold with a Leeds to Wigan North Western service on 08 January 2022. Hag Fold is a fairly recent station having been constructed in 1987 however it lacks the feature of the original L&Y stations on the Atherton line, an island platform. The platform the train is arriving at has been built on the former Up Fast line with the former Down Fast further to the right.

Cambridge: The new Cambridge ticket office is at right angles to the previous one, which ran left to right in this picture. The barriers are cleverer than me - they detected that I was trying to use an off-peak ticket too early in the day, forcing me to take a longer route to my destination. Not all bad, then.

Middleton Siding [Linwood]: In a typical April day of sunshine and showers, HR 103 heads off from Linwood towards Blackstone Junction on the Glasgow to Gourock line - it had arrived in pouring rain. The train was the Easter Rambler No 4, and the date was 17 April 1965. Its previous port of call had been Renfrew Wharf. Middleton Siding, removed by 1965, was a headshunt in Linwood alongside which the Linwood nurseries were built.

Wykeham: Wykeham station is still used as the base for the Wykeham Estate, and kept in good condition. The platform is intact with a short section of the trackbed west of the station building infilled to provide a circulation area complete with a display board showing the route of the line and earlier years views around the station upto closure. An alternate view south of the weighbridge building showing the access door. See image [[79774]] Part of the weigh platform operating mechanism can be seen inside.

Freshford: Diversions at Freshford: this is a stone train from Hayes and Harlington to East Usk Yard on 15th January 2022, an FHH working hauled by 66619. Notice the tail of the train about to enter the reverse curves; and the gaggle of teenage photographers at the end of the platform. Apparently they publish on Instagram - I put in a good word for RAILSCOT.
