North Grimston Viaduct: A scanned 35mm colour slide image, taken in December 1986, of the North Grimston Viaduct, between North Grimston and Setttrington, East Yorkshire, on the defunct NER Driffield to Malton Railway line. I am led to believe that, apart from Burdale Tunnel, this was the largest structure on the line, passing over a farm access lane. However, it has been demolished since the picture was taken, date unknown. The embankments can now be seen from the North Grimston to Norton road, the B1248.

Rhyd Ddu: On the return Welsh Highland Railway journey from Caernarfon to Porthmadog Harbour, on the afternoon of 22nd May 2016, another lengthy wait ensued at Rhyd-Ddu station for a Caernarfon train to arrive, clearing the single line. Ex-South African Railways NSGG class 16 2-6-2+2-6-2 No.138 eventually arrived at Rhyd-Ddu and in common with stations on the sister Ffestiniog Railway, is crossing on the right. The weather had improved considerably by this time to when I set off from Porthmadog in the morning.

Burnham-on-Crouch: A grainy photo from my archives of a much changed scene as a reasonably-sized crowd of passengers alight from a Wickford to Southminster service at its penultimate stop at Burnham-on-Crouch in June 1972. The train will head away from the camera when it departs. Even then, the station had been reduced to just one bi-directional platform with the removal of the passing loop. The branch has since been electrified (see my photo image no. [[67456]]).

Elderslie Junction: Standard 5MT 4-6-0 No 73009 has just arrived from Ayrshire on 22 May 1963, and has required assistance to reverse its long freight train on to the goods line at Elderslie. The loco at the rear would then allocate the wagons to the appropriate line in the goods yard.
