Cronberry No 4 Pit Signal Box: Looking from the level crossing of the Cronberry Moor Mine branch in 2004. Cronberry No.4 Pit Signal Box is on the skyline. This was the second alignment opened here, replacing an earlier branch from the Muirkirk main line.
Carnforth: One of 10A's less well known residents is 03196, seen here in the shed extension at the north end of the site in March 2018 while still in BR Blue. It is believed that it has now been repainted in BR Green.
Wykeham: Whilst some 90% of the former Forge Valley line between Pickering and Seamer has been obliterated there is a substantial length of embankment still extant alongside the south side of A170 road a short distance east of Wykeham station. It is immediately beyond where a bridge previously crossed the road heading east. Mid way along the embankment is an accommodation bridge which is in remarkably good condition considering how long the line has been closed.
Carlisle: A presentable looking 72007 'Clan Mackintosh' at Carlisle station, having recently arrived with the 7.00 am train from Glasgow on 28 May 1964.
Borough: Temporary Northern Line closure. Southbound platform at Borough, Northern Line Bank branch, looking south on 14th January 2022. This station, and the Bank branch between Moorgate and Kennington, was temporarily closed the following day until May 2022 to allow extensive reconstruction work at Bank station. That should be ample time to give Borough, that opened with the first section of the City & South London Railway from King William Street (replaced by Bank in 1900) and Stockwell on 18th December 1890, some much needed cosmetic surgery too.
Stirling: Dalry Road Black 5 44994, ready to leave Stirling, with the 10.15 to Edinburgh on 29th February 1964. This was the last day on which the service was bound for Princes St station, being thereafter routed into Edinburgh Waverley.
Oxford: Colas 70812 and 70808 double heading an engineering train for Bescot passing Oxford 1158 hours on 23rd September 2021. Reporting No 690V
Roseden Crossing: Roseden Crossing signalbox, on the Alnwick to Cornhill line in 1991, twenty six years after the last goods train had passed. The railway was single track and the crossing seemed to serve only a field gate!
Polmadie Shed: By March 1967, steam was well through the process of being squeezed out by diesel at Polmadie, and things look rather that way in this shot, with Brush Type 4s on one side and EE Type 1s on the other. In between are Standard 2-6-4T 80116 and Black Fives 45124 and 45013.
