Silloth Marshall Dock: The tidal Marshall Dock at Silloth, viewed from the sea wall, with the New Dock beyond. Ships in the New Dock stay afloat thanks to the lock gates. Railway tracks ran along the land to the left and also on the right hand side of the dock. Carr's flour mills were big users of the railway but, although still active in the town, transferred to road haulage in the early 1960s and the branch closed completely in 1964.
Euxton Junction: A Northern service from Preston to Buxton approaches Euxton Junction in the sunshine on 1 November 2008 with 150148.
Dalgety Bay: Dalgety deforestation. 170427 nears Dalgety Bay with the 13.29 from Edinburgh to Aberdeen on 14 December 2021. The low embankment on the right was raised to protect the gentlefolk of Fordell House from the horrifying sight of trains passing by. The trees surmounting it are being reduced by Network Rail contractors to protect the trains.
Aberdeen: Aberdeen to Ballater Battery unit (BEMU) at Platform No 1, Aberdeen in April 1963.
Edinburgh Princes Street: A Black 5 runs in to Edinburgh Princes St on 29th February 1964, with a service from Stirling. The photographer recorded that this was the last day of trains between the two stations (presumably before being re-routed to Waverley).
Cattal: Former Scotrail operated Bombardier Turbostar 3-coach DMU 170473 readies to depart Cattal for York with the 15.29 ex-Leeds via Harrogate Northern Trains service on 15 June 2021.

Caernarfon: Ex-South African Railways NSGG Class 16 2-6-2+2-6-2 No.87, 79 years old at the date of this photo, running round at the northern terminus of the Welsh Highland Railway at Caernarfon on 22nd May 2016. This is on a new site on the trackbed of the former LNWR Afon Wen to Bangor line south of the original standard gauge station and, since this visit, reconstruction of the station began and a spacious new entrance building is now fully open. The famous 13th Century Castle can be seen in the left background.
Dillicar Watertroughs: Black 5 44669 will not require banking assistance at Tebay, as it makes good speed through the Lune valley with a short northbound freight.
Motherwell Shed: Although it is a sunny January 1967 afternoon, snow has perhaps been forecast, as Black 5 45423 is in steam and has one of Motherwell depot's large snowploughs attached.
