Killington Lane: Thats a rather inviting looking open door, especially in the current shortage of steam. View looks towards Woody Bay along the L&BR in August 2016.
Lossiemouth: The former Lossiemouth station seen in January 1979. This is the ticket office, waiting rooms etc building, with the office/hotel building just off to the left. Neither building survives although a long portion of platform can be found in what is now a car park.
Boat of Garten: LMS design Brake 3rd corridor coach no.27043, built at Derby in 1951, is seen in the sidings at Boat of Garten in April 1977. After withdrawal from BR it was bought by WEC Watkinson and restored in LMS livery along with an ex LMS 3rd open coach, a 6 wheel passenger brake van and a District Engineers saloon.
South Gyle: A First ScotRail DMU northbound out of Edinburgh heading for The Forth Bridge on 6 August 2013. The train has recently restarted its journey after calling at South Gyle station, whose platforms are visible on this side of the bridge in the centre background.
Alloa Goods [NBR]: The roadway, Glasshouse Loan, was once the approach to Alloa Harbour and the North British's goods yard from Alloa station. The Caledonian's goods yard was off to the right. The photograph was taken to compare with Geo. C O'Hara's (photograph 148 in Scottish Urban and Rural Branch Lines).
Hawick [2nd]: Hawick totem seen at a railwayana auction in 1996. I'll make a wild guess and say that the rest of that nameplate read 'KIPLING'.
Waddon Marsh [Tram]: Croydon Tram 2555 from Wimbledon to New Addington at Waddon Marsh, on 30th September 2016. Trams on this system no longer carry route numbers.
Buchanan Street: As a porter wrestled with a fully laden barrow, B1 61029 'Chamois' was ready to leave Glasgow Buchanan Street with the 11.35 service to Thornton on 2nd November 1966. Buchanan St station closed for good at the end of that week.
Glasgow Central: Glasgow Central, during the morning rush hour on a June morning in 1985, with 27020 at rest having brought in a service from either Carlisle or Girvan/Ayr. This loco was withdrawn from use the following April. The poster advertises the Open Station System by which ticket inspections only took place on trains. This saved expenditure on staff but created great potential for fare dodging until the advent of automatic ticket barriers at major stations in the 1990s.
