Newcastle East Junction: 66084 away to pass through Newcastle, on the Abbot & Co 1848 bridge over St Nicholas Street, on 17th November 2020. This unexpected train was an opportunity to try out my new phone camera.
Powderhall: In the fading light of an afternoon on the cusp of winter, the time of year for which the untranslatable Japanese word [get on with it. Ed] The foundations in the foreground are not, alas remnants of Powderhall station but of the now demolished refuse disposal plant, the line's last raison d'etre. The rusting track is being smothered by vegetation. See image [[11948]] from operational plant days.

Spen Lane Signal Box: 331025 leads a Manchester Airport to Blackpool North service, running past the site of Spen Lane box, between Salwick and Kirkham, on 16th November 2020. Traction was a little more exotic on my previous visit to this footbridge [[19198]].
Bunsall Incline: The Bunsal Inclines were two of five inclines that took the Cromford and High Peak Railway from Whaley Bridge up to the plateau. Bunsall Lower at around 455 yards and with a gradient of 1 in 7 was combined in 1852 with Bunsall Upper (660 yards at 1 in 18). In this view in a south easterly direction, the upper incline goes from the point marked A (centre of photo) to B, upper right. This part of the railway was abandoned in the 1890s when the L&NWR made a connection to the upper section at Harpur Hill. This provided a connection to the Manchester area without the need of to use the northern inclines.
