Montrose [CR]: Lovely bit of skew bridge building on the one time Caledonian line to the old Montrose station, still extant in 2020.
Silkstone Junction: The infilled land adjacent to the road overbridge on the A637 Barnsley Road, where it adjoins both the A637 Claycliffe Lane and the local road Barugh Lane at a mini roundabout, is being worked on in November 2020 in order to create a larger roundabout to more ably cope with the traffic volume along the A637. By chance I happened to be back down in the area and noted that the work had opened up the upper east side of the arch of the bridge that crossed over the former Silkstone Branch line just west of Silkstone Junction. See Image [[74880]]. Backfilling of the cleared area is taking place, to support the new road section, and I was advised that the under bridge area is to be filled with concrete. View is looking north over the bridge from Barugh Lane, along Barnsley Road towards Darton.
St Combs: Extract from the Scottish Region passenger timetable 1960-61 showing the St Combs branch. Its perhaps hard to see why this branch survived long enough to be a Beeching closure, but let's face it, these things were not always rational.
Howth: DART unit no. 8123 just arrived at the terminus at Howth, on 19th June 2016.
Polmadie Shed: The smoky atmosphere at Polmadie on 8th February 1967 did not do anything to help the team cleaning up Standard 2-6-4T 80116. They had been set to work on account of the imminent arrival of Russia's President Kosygin at Glasgow Central, where the loco was to be on station pilot duty.
Oxford: Colas 67023 passing south through Oxford with a Network Rail Test Train on 7th October 2020. 67027 was at the rear.
Blundellsands and Crosby: The Liverpool platform entrance to Blundellsands and Crosby station, on the right, and the subway to the far side from which there are stairs to both platforms. 3rd November 2020.
Drei Annen Hohne: Harzer Schmalspur-bahnen railcar at Drei Annen Hohne on 10th September 2020.
Oxford: Far from home, former ScotRail 47711 'Greyfriars Bobby' sat on the south end of a rake of NSE Mk1s in the carriage sidings to the west of the line, north of Oxford station, in September 1991.
Dunkeld and Birnam: An Edinburgh service pulls into Dunkeld on 29 September 2020 with the rocks above the King's Pass in the background. The steps needed because of the low platforms have handles on: does that mean you are allowed to move them to align fully with your door? If so wouldn't that muck things up for the next train, and so on? Dilemma.
