Farington Curve Junction: The Preston Docks to Lindsey Oil Terminal empty tar wagons take the East Lancs line at Farington Curve Junction on 8 August 2011. The loco is EWS 60015 in two tone grey livery. The WCML is in the background and the single line to Ormskirk is on the left.

Glen Ogle Viaduct: Remains of the C&O viaduct in Glen Ogle. Wide view looking west from alongside the A85 in 2008. The structure stood roughly midway between Glenoglehead Crossing to the north [[31666]] and Balquhidder to the south [[16394]]. The line was closed in 1965 following a rock fall.

Lealholm: Track renewal took place over much of the section of line between Danby and Lealholm on the Whitby branch during late September 2020. The section running west from close to milepost 23 1/2, which is just off view to left, through to just short of Lawns Road overbridge MBW/63 by Houlsyke, has just been ballasted after being relaid over the previous day and night. The field boundary stock fencing and the post and rail fencing for the accommodation underpass have also been renewed as part of the project

Roebuck: A reminder alongside the Lancaster Canal that, before nationalisation, this waterway was owned by the railway. This L&NWR boundary post is on the opposite bank of the canal to the towpath, on the stretch between Barton and Bilsborrow. 8th November 2020.

Cardonald: Standard 4MT 2-6-4T 80058 nears Cardonald on the 13.00 Gourock – Glasgow Central, with a strong westerly wind blowing the smoke at almost the same speed as the train. 23rd April 1966.
