Argyle Street: Argyle Street station's 'back door' in Osborne Street is like a scaled-down version of the main entrance in Argyle Street itself. In my day we wore black woollen blazers to school but today they are evidently more hazardous places.
Caledonia Works: 1982 street level view of Andrew Barclay and Sons Co Caledonia Works. This building later became derelict but has since been restored as in image [[45154]].
Motherwell Shed: Crab 2-6-0 42806, above the ash pit at Motherwell depot on 5th June 1963. In the background, Caley 2F 0-6-0 57278 can be seen pushing a couple of coal wagons up the sharp slope to the coaling stage.
Mendip Vale: GWR 0-6-2T 5637 at Mendip Vale on the East Somerset Railway on 29th April 2001.
Lea Road Watertroughs: Construction of the new viaduct for the Preston Western Distributor Road continues and four rows of pillars and the abutments are now in place. A York to Blackpool CAF 195 passes the new structure on 17th October 2020. See image [[73625]] from three months earlier.
Avoncliff: This view looks West along the aqueduct over the Bath-Weymouth line. There was once a railway (about 3 foot gauge, and horse hauled) along the towpath to the right. There was an incline from a quarry in Westwood (behind the tall tree which stands out in the background), then the railway crossed the canal to terminate in a transshipment yard to the right of this view, adjacent to the present railway.
Worleston: Worleston station building (no.2 Station Road) at street level on 1 October 2020. The lower floor of the house is at platform level, although these have been removed; the station closed in 1952.
Grantown-on-Spey East: The abandoned platforms at Grantown-on-Spey East on 21 May 2012. Photographed looking north east along the overgrown trackbed towards Craigellachie
Filey Holiday Camp: A close-up of Filey Holiday Camp signal box in August 1977, standing on the north side of the line alongside the station approach. The new 4-platform station was opened by the LNER in 1947 to serve the large post-war 'Butlins' holday camp located nearby.
Perth: An Inverness to Glasgow service pulls out of Perth's Platform 4 on 29 September 2020. It is difficult to get a decent shot inside the trainshed because the 'clear' plastic roof is so mouldy.
