Weymouth

Exterior of Weymouth station, as rebuilt and opened on 3rd July 1986. The original station, on this site, was opened by the Great Western Railway on 20th January 1857 with timber buildings and a glazed all-weather protection roof that was damaged during air raids in World War Two and removed after 1945. The timber buildings, still there when I visited in 1972 and 1975, had fallen into decay by the 1980s which saw their replacement with the present station, as seen here on the afternoon of Sunday, 9th July 2023.
