Balgreen Halt

The trackbed of the Corstorphine branch, closed in 1968 and now a public footpath, curving away from Balgreen on 13th August 2021. There are substantial remains of the intermediate station at Pinkhill, close to Edinburgh Zoo, and this old line would make an excellent branch of the Edinburgh Trams for short workings, especially after the extension to Newhaven opens. The current Balgreen tram stop, just out of view to the left, is more or less on the site of Balgreen Halt that opened in 1934 and closed with the branch in 1968. I am indebted to my friend Paul Harvey of Edinburgh for this last piece of information.
