Crow Nest Junction

158752 takes the Atherton line towards Salford, at the much simplified Crow Nest Junction, with a Wigan to Leeds service in April 2021. I have a picture taken from this spot in 1968, immediately prior to rationalisation, showing an L&YR signal box in the fork, controlling three converging railways, with eight tracks in total. Whereas today's junction has a single diamond crossover the 1968 picture shows eleven in the very complex layout. See map 76558 showing the various lines around this area in 1959.
