Portobello East Junction

By 1970, the 13.43 Aberdeen to Kings Cross express freight (4E47) is thought to have been the last regular fish train to be operated by BR. Despite a modest load of just ten or so Blue Spot vans it was still considered important enough to qualify for Type 4 haulage. On 13 April 1970 Peak No. D187 is seen accelerating off the reverse curves at Portobello and is about to pass under the box at Portobello East Junction.
