Hawick [2nd]

The lever frame at Hawick South signal box at Christmas time in 1968. The photograph was taken at approximately 11.30pm on 23 December with the route set for a special Edinburgh - Hawick parcels train (no, not him) to run back through the crossover from the up to the down line. A notable feature on the instrument shelf at Hawick South was a bell-push labelled 'Station Hotel' which was used to alert intending passengers in the bar 5 minutes before a train was due to depart.
