Edinburgh Princes Street

Looking east along the Caledonian trackbed towards the site of Princes Street station in 1972, with the tenements of Gardners Crescent straight ahead. The old station had by then been demolished, giving a view of the rear of the Caledonian Hotel in the left background. To the right was the route into the original Lothian Road station, latterly a goods depot. The area has seen considerable change over the years, although the bridge on the left still stands, albeit now spanning Edinburgh's West Approach Road. See image 31813 for the view west from the other side of the bridges at this time.
