Edinburgh Princes Street

Mystery picture...thanks to all who responded to the request to help identify the old photograph - in particular to Bill Roberton who finally nailed it. The picture was in fact taken looking north across the lines outside Princes Street station, Edinburgh in 1963. Amongst the features still standing are the tenements in the right background which form the rear of Rutland Square and the tower on the skyline, which is part of St Georges West church on Shandwick Place. I have emailed details to Alex Dyne who is paying a visit to Edinburgh next week and who had requested help in identifying the location - an old family photograph of his late father who not only appears in the picture but was also the engineer who designed the bridge on behalf of the SSEB - Ed. (Old family photograph).
