Barrow-in-Furness

For many years the old Furness Railway locomotive Coppernob resided on the platform at Barrow-in-Furness in a glass building but it was removed during WWII to protect it from the air raids that Barrow experienced and is now part of the NRM National Collection. The January fog masks the functional appearance of the 1960s station buildings in this view looking east. The main semaphores control trains leaving towards Askam and Millom while the shunting arms control access to the carriage sidings.
