Newcastleton

Brush Type 4 no 1536 takes the 8.50am St Pancras - Edinburgh Waverley away from Newcastleton on a chilly 28 December 1968 during the final days of operations over the line. [Editor's note: I came across this strangely evocative photograph in the RB file and did some digging! The 3 individuals on the platform, as well as the photographer, had all arrived separately at Newcastleton station that day to witness the passage of the train. Of note in the centre of the group is a cash-strapped student named McCartney.]
