Hawick [2nd]

A1 Pacific no 60152 Holyrood takes the 0950 Edinburgh - Sheffield out of Hawick on 25 July 1959. The train, which had been extended to London on this occasion, is seen running past the livestock pens of Andrew Oliver's auction market. [Editor's note: Bruce McCartney tells me that today's equivalent photograph would be more or less standing at the front door of Morrisons supermarket looking west, with the livestock pens having made way for the customer car park. The spire in the centre is part of St Andrew's church, latterly a petrol station.] See image 24768
