'Peak' Type 4 D160 calling at Hawick with the 9.30 am Edinburgh-Carlisle, the Waverley Route portion of the southbound 'Thames-Clyde Express'. The date was 4th January 1969 and the police presence was occasioned by the thoroughly justifiable protest taking place against the closure of the line the following day (see image 22765).
