Glasgow Central
The station arch at Glasgow Central in September 2007, looking back along the short platform 11a. This platform is to be abolished following removal of the buildings in the centre of the picture. Two new platforms (numbered 12 and 13) are to be created utilising the area beyond the arch, which is currently occupied by the station car park. The new platforms will be accessed by tracks routed through the arch itself and will handle the new Glasgow Airport Rail Link services. Responsibility for the GARL project was recently handed over from SPT to Transport Scotland. (Addendum: GARL project subsequently abandoned)
