Whitby and Pickering Railway

Introduction

This line opened in 1835. Almost all the original alignment remains open today. Between Grosmont and Pickering it is now a heritage railway, the North Yorkshire Moors Railway. The portion from Grosmont to Whitby is used by public trains from Middlesbrough to Whitby, via a reversal at Battersby.
