Ruswarp

The picturesque station at Ruswarp, North Yorkshire, photographed looking north across the single line in March 2010. Off to the left is the level crossing at the foot of High Street with the bridge over the Esk just beyond. Opened in 1835 by the Whitby and Pickering Railway, Ruswarp is the penultimate stop on what is now the 30 mile long Esk Valley Line between Middlesbrough and Whitby, with the latter terminus just over a mile away to the right. Nowadays this section of the route is also used by trains of the North York Moors Railway running east beyond Grosmont.
