Merseyrail 507029 waits at Ormskirk for the booked departure time of 2107hrs for a service to Liverpool Central on 8th January 2020. This is the south end of the single platform face at Ormskirk however beyond the buffer stops the Northern trains arrive on the services from and to Preston.

The Northern service from Preston has just terminated at Ormskirk on 8th January 2020 and after the crew had changed ends, returned to Preston. At the other end of the platform a Merseyrail EMU waits to depart to Liverpool Central.

Ormskirk Now and Then. EMU 508136 waits at Ormskirk prior to departing for Liverpool Central. [See image 19549] of the same location in 1972, since when the footbridge and down line have been removed, the bay platform has been filled in to form a footpath and there has been a general increase in the amount of vegetation. However, the end on meeting with Preston DMUs continues to this day and a Class 153 Sprinter stands behind the EMU.
