A massive £16 million of taxpayer's money was spent on technical advice on the Edinburgh Airport rail link before the scheme was scrapped. The figures were revealed today in documents obtained by the Edinburgh Evening News showing where the bulk of £30m was spent on the project. Another £3.2m went on ground investigation work for the ambitious plan to build a tunnel under the runway and a further £500,000 was spent on public relations. [Evening News 1 November]
