Trains put on hold at Edinburgh Park

Date: 27/10/2007

THE Scottish Government has come under fire after it emerged commuters face waiting until 2016 for better rail services to the Capital's biggest business park. Hundreds of people travelling on Edinburgh to Glasgow express trains are forced to travel to Haymarket and then double back, or change trains at Linlithgow, because the service does not stop at Edinburgh Park. Business groups and politicians have been pushing for the trains to stop at Edinburgh Park since it opened in 2003. [Evening News 27 October 2007]

An eastbound Class 385 calls at Edinburgh Park on 22 July 2019. A delay in opening the doors causes one gentleman consternation and gives me a chance to rush back and grab a picture.

An Edinburgh service calls at Edinburgh Park on 22 July 2019. This station sees eight trains an hour each way with another four passing through. Its a station for commuting to rather than from as absolutely nobody lives near here. There are a couple of hotels nearby, but I don^t think even retired majors live in hotels any more (not Premier Inns, certainly).

A westbound service approaches Edinburgh Park on 22 July 2019 with the kenspeckle bulk of Arthur^s Seat in the background. Surrounded by an industrial estate, a retail park, a business park and absolutely no houses Edinburgh Park is a station you travel to, not from. Yes, I said kenspeckle. Shoot me now before I say ^anent^ or ^clanjamfrie^ and start writing letters to The Scotsman.
