Fawley Explorer fact finding train runs on Hampshires Fawley Branch [Rail Advent]

Recently [28 July], South Western Railway ran a special fact-finding train to investigate the potential re-opening of the Fawley Branch in Hampshire.
The Fawley Branch last saw a regular passenger service more than 50 years ago.
The special service follows a submission to the Department for Transports Restoring your Railway Fund by Hampshire County Council.

USA 0-6-0T locomotives 30064+30069 replenishing their tanks in the sidings alongside the UKs largest oil refinery at Fawley on Southampton Water. The visit was part of the LCGB Hampshire Branch Lines Rail Tour on 9 April 1967, with the pair having brought in the special on the leg from Southampton Central.

UK Railtours excursion from Waterloo passing Marchwood station, on the Fawley branch in Hampshire, heading towards Fawley on 8th April 2017. The line and station closed to regular passenger traffic on 14th February 1966. Attempts to reopen the line to passengers as far as Hythe, which would include Marchwood, have so far not met with any success. (See recent news item.)
