Workington Central (1879-1931)

Opened on the Cleator and Workington Junction Railway.

Description

This was a two platform station with a goods yard to the south on the east side of the line approached from the south. The main station building was on the southbound platform.

There was a two road locomotive shed to the south, on the west side of the line served from the north.

The station site is now a car park. Oxford Street crossed the line to the north of the station and this bridge still exists, carrying a road over a road.
