Description

This was a two platform on the south side of a level crossing. The main station building was on the southbound (east) platform, the Netherton side of the railway. A smaller building was on the northbound platform.

The goods yard was on the east side, approached from the south. The signal box was on the north side of the level crossing, on the east side.

Station cottages remain on the east side of the station site, the former entry to the goods yard.

The main station building survives as does the base of the signal box as a switchroom. The level crossing is still open.

To the north a short waggonway ran east to meet the main course of the Netherton Waggonway, a mineral line. Approach was from the south. Sidings remained on either side of the main line after the waggonway's closure.

Netherton is now known as Nedderton. It is a just over a mile to the east. Stannington is to the south, nearly two miles away.
