Name and dates

Rosehill Junction (1879-1973)

Opened on the Cleator and Workington Junction Railway.

Description

This was the junction between Bain's Tramway (later known as the Harrington and Lowca Light Railway) and the Cleator and Workington Junction Railway's Harrington Branch (later known as the Rosehill Branch).

Both lines were single track and there was a loop on the Cleator and Workington north of the junction.

A signal box was later provided, probably when the Harrington and Lowca Light Railway Act allowed passenger trains.
