Name and dates

Kirkcaldy Harbour Junction

Opened on the Edinburgh and Northern Railway.

Description

This junction was located at Rosebery Terrace with the main line of the Edinburgh and Northern Railway and the Kirkcaldy Harbour branch running parallel as far as Dunniker Road, the harbour line serving several works and making a second connection, before curving off to the south east down a steeply graded branch to the harbour.

There was a signal box on the north west side of the line north of Rosebery Terrace.

The works served from west to east were the Victoria Road Maltings, Victoria Cabinet Works, Dunniker Coach Works, Victoria Stone Dressing Siding and Kirkcaldy Corporation Tramways Power Station.

To the west a loop was later added on the north west side of the line, serving the approach to Kirkcaldy goods yard.

The signal box closed in 1968 when replaced with a ground frame. The branch closed in 1984.
