Mine
Glenochil Mine (1956-1962)
Served by the Alva Railway.
This large mine was developed by the NCB. Unfortunately it was not a success, much of the coal to be extracted turned out to have already been removed.
The site was rail served from the west by a new branch from the Alva Railway. The extensive exchange sidings were to the west of the site.
The site is now Glenochil Prison.
