Description

This was the junction for a London and South Western Railway branch (later part of their main line). The signal box was on the north side of the line.

In 1876 the London and South Western Railway opened a branch south west to Devonport (LSW) (extended to Stonehouse Pool Quay in 1886. The junction gained greater importance when the Plymouth, Devonport and South Western Junction Railway was opened from Lydford (LSW) (to the north) through Bere Alston and Devonport Kings Road to reach the existing branch in 1890.

The London and South Western Railway ceased to be a through route in 1964. The branch closed in 1971.

Wingfield Villas Halt was just to the west of the junction on the former Cornwall Railway.
