Crossford (1905-1943)

Opened on the Cairn Valley Light Railway (Glasgow and South Western Railway).

Description

This was a single platform station located on the Cairn Valley line between the Kirkland (west) and Dunscore (south east). It was a small station with a small metal shelter on the platform, short siding and loading bank and station agent's house.

There was a combined platform and loading bank, the loading bank to the east and set back to accommodate the siding siding. The platforms were on the north side of the line.

There was a level crossing to the west, the station agent's house still remains on west side of the crossing, north side of line.

The roadway here was diverted to the south allow the line to be built.
