Upper Holloway: 66553 passing Upper Holloway with 4M91, the 1037hrs London Gateway to Birmingham Lawley Street freightliner terminal on 30th April 2025.
Tebay: On what was a very wet day one of Tebay`s Standard 4MTs is working hard to assist a steam hauled northbound passenger service up the climb to Shap Summit. This was one of the many holiday extras operating on 29th July 1967, the last Saturday of the Glasgow Fair, and was well worth the soaking to watch the passage of a fair number of steam hauled and banked workings.
Kingsland: Most van bodies like this used as storage on farms have rotted apart due to leaking roofs allowing wooden walls to fail. This van has avoided that fate (so far) by a neatly fitted new roof felt. Unfortunately the owner, our landlord for the weekend, could not tell me any of the van's history.
Dundee Tay Bridge Shed: 'Carmyllie Pilot' Ivatt 2MT 2-6-0 46464, and NBR J37 0-6-0 64597, in the shed at Dundee on 7th September 1966.
Bidston: View from the north end of Bidston station on the Wirral with Merseyrail's line to West Kirby on the right and Transport for Wales Borderlands Line to Wrexham, curving away to the left, at 17.41 on Monday, 28th April 2025. A minute or two later a late-running TfW service arrived to rescue a reasonably-sized crowd of passengers who had been waiting patiently on the station. Merseyrail services to and from West Kirby were also delayed at this time due to a broken down train.
Crinan: PS 'Waverley' arrived at Crinan on 19th May 2025 for the first time since 1995. The welcome, by a young piper from Mid-Argyll Pipe Band, was much appreciated by the full complement of passengers aboard. This follows the return of Ardrishaig at the other end of the Crinan Canal (see image [[77870]]) to the paddle steamer’s itinerary in August 2021, made possible with the cooperation of staff at Scottish Canals. A wide angle lens was necessary at compact Crinan pier to fit the whole vessel in the frame. This unfortunately distorts her fine lines but it certainly doesn’t diminish the significance of the event.
Glenfarg North Tunnel: A view showing the former Glenfarg main line (bottom), the River Farg (near the top) and a bend in the B996 at the top.
Appleby: Scottish Railway Preservation Society class 37 no. 37403 'Isle of Mull' being operated by Locomotive Services Ltd passing Appleby on Friday 16th May 2025 working the 1120 Barrow Hill to Bo'ness Jn Exchange Siding with two Mk1s in tow.
