Swindon Works: 24052. One of the many class 24 locomotives broken up at Swindon Works. Note behind the milk tanker. Swindon A shops is now built on and I wonder how many people know about what once stood where their houses are now.

Windyedge Crossing: View looking east from above 'The Walnut Whips', at the former St Ninians opencast mine, looking towards Lassodie Mill Colliery and Kelty. The course of the former West of Fife Mineral Railway is severed by the M90 motorway. The former line can be seen in this view as an oblique line from lower centre running up to the right across the fields. The line on this side of the M90 is utterly obliterated by opencast and landscaping operations. Windyedge Colliery, short lived, was just to the north of the line where the level crossing for Windyedge Farm was located (just beyond the motorway).

Abbotsview Footbridge: Footbridge from Boleside Road to Abbotsview Drive over the old trackbed to Selkirk. Looks like it has had a coat of paint and a new plate SKK/4.

Eastleigh: SWR Arterio 701508 was on driver/crew training on 31st January 2024. It seemed to be doing circuits around the Eastleigh railway system. It would appear these train sets are now finally coming into service.

Montevideo Central General Artigas: Looking, through the security fence, along the frontage of Montevideo Central station, in February 2024, twenty one years after it closed when the line was cut back by some five hundred metres. Hopefully the funds can be found to turn this splendid building into something worthy of a capital city but it is not ideally situated for the usual tourist haunts.

Montevideo Central General Artigas: The principal station in the Uruguayan capital was Montevideo Central General Artigas. Railways in Uruguay have declined dramatically in recent years and this Italian style terminus, opened in 1897, closed in March 2003. Its history and style is recognised however and it appears to have protected status now. The line was cut back 500 metres to a small two platform halt but that too appears to have closed now.

Kings Cross: 47746 has just brought the stock of the Railway Touring Company's partly steam-hauled excursion to Whitby, departing at 06.00, into King's Cross, at 05.33 on Wednesday, 20th March 2024. This was hauled by E3137 (86259) as far as York where Stanier Black 5 no. 44871 took over with 47815 attached to the rear (47746 did not travel with the train) for the several reversals the train would be making, beginning at Battersby on the Esk Valley Line.

Shirebrook Shed: A view of the public open day held at Shirebrook depot on 6 June 1987. Steam loco A4 no 4498 is present along with 55016, 45060, 37047, 56107 and others. There was also a display and open day at Worksop yard with a DMU shuttle between Worksop and Shirebrook, which was at this time a freight only line. A great day out.
