Stirling: Recently transferred from up north, Standard Class 2MT 2-6-0 No 78053 is finding its feet in Stirling, by indulging in a spot of shunting in the yard beside the station, on 26 February 1963.
Kidderminster Town: There I was at Kidderminster, quietly pondering whether I preferred my Westies to be castings (20189, on the left) or stickers (20048, to the right) when I noticed a Stern Lady watching me; so I beat a retreat.
Sheerness-on-Sea: LMS Jubilee no. 45596 Bahamas (1934) with the Railway Touring Company's 'The Armistice Kentish Belle' excursion, during a 45 minutes lunchtime break at Sheerness-on-Sea station, on Saturday, 11th November 2023. After a reversal at Strood, the train was hauled to Sheerness by 47746 but on departure from here, 45596, that had hauled the train from London Victoria via Bromley South, Orpington, Tonbridge and the Medway Valley Line, resumed its role as the lead locomotive for this railtour, onward via Sittingbourne, Faversham and Canterbury East to Dover Priory.
Cartsdyke: A Derby DMU arriving at Cartsdyke with a Gourock service. The picture dates from early 1967, not long before the start of electric services on the line.
Kelty: View north at Kelty. The main line passed from bottom centre through the right side of the shed before curving gently to the right to the trees in the distance. Beyond that it curved to the left again to pass the hillside. The Blairenbathie and Blairadam mineral line curve off to the left, passing Ivy Cottage on the main road and continuing off to the left. On the right the Lochore mineral line passed between the two nearer forests.
Rosyth: Freightliner 66516 nears Rosyth with 6K01 from Thornton South Junction to Millerhill, consisting of lifted track panels, on 12 November 2023.
Oswestry: Oswestry station in April 1969. Passenger services finally came to an end on 07/11/1966 with the closure of the line to Gobowen although goods traffic continued until 06/12/1971.
Balfour Street [Tram]: This interpretive panel now accompanies the the 'Pilrig Muddle' tram pulley-wheels at Iona Street near the Balfour Street tram stop.
Brunstane: On Wednesday 29 November 2023, trial runs were made of the 'Polar Express' prior to public services the following day. 47848 climbs past Brunstane with the second 'Polar Express' test run of the day heading for Gorgie Junction.
Udny: The Aberdeen platform of Udny station, in the village of Udny Station, seen from the road overbridge looking towards Newmachar and Dyce on 25th October 2023. The houses have been built on the station and goods yard site but the trackbed is a long distance cycle route. The other platform is also present but less easy to see from the bridge.
Livingston North: Work on the redoubling of the Bathgate line is apparent in this November 2007 view over Livingston North station. A Waverley - Bathgate DMU is about to restart its journey having dropped off a small group of passengers.
Brookmans Park: 40175 heads light loco to Kings Cross in July 1979. Brookmans Park station is in the background.
Parkhead Shed: J36 0-6-0 No. 65211 was withdrawn in 1962 and is enduring the hard winter at Parkhead shed on 23 February 1963. The cloudless sky was typical of the sub-zero temperatures experienced at that time.
