Birkenhead Central: Birkenhead Central station was also the company offices of the Mersey Railway. The station building still proclaims that fact, pictured here on 1st November 2023. The basic service of trains from here is six per hour in each direction.
Haymarket [Tram]: Late on 31 Oct 2023, tram engineering works were taking place resulting in turning round of trams at Haymarket.
Shipley: After two days of almost non-stop rain, especially on Tuesday, 19th September, it was a beautiful sunny morning when the ex-10.30 Northern service from Bradford Forster Square to Leeds called at Shipley station, on Thursday, 21st September 2023.
Blundellsands and Crosby: A group has been formed to try to preserve a Merseyrail Class 507 EMU. https://www.class507.org.uk/ Initially, they have set their sights on pioneer 507001, seen here at Blundellsands and Crosby on Southport line duties on 1st November 2023. All Southport to Hunts Cross diagrams that day were being worked by the old EMUs but other Merseyrail lines had 777s or a mixture of old and new.
Inverkeithing South Junction: 158735 on the 15.18 from Edinburgh to Cowdenbeath passes Inverkeithing South Junction and the overgrown Rosyth Dockyard branch on 12 October 2023.
Giggleswick: 46100 'Royal Scot' climbs at Kettlesbeck, just after Clapham on the Bentham line, with 1Z40 07:23 Rugby to Hellifield, Saphos Trains 'Pennine Moors Explorer' on 21st October 2023
Haymarket: 170405 calls at Haymarket platform 2 with a Fife service on 28 October 2023.
Keltie Water Bridge: View west of the north side of the Keltie Water Bridge, a single arch stone viaduct with a long span.
Sunderland: Ex-NER Q6 0-8-0 63456 at Sunderland in 1962. On unearthing this photograph, taken on a school railway club summer outing, I was entertained to spot our kind and very long-suffering maths teacher Mr MacNab waiting patiently in the right background. I think he really had next to no interest in railways, but had obviously drawn the short straw when school club supervision duties were being allocated.
Bristol Temple Meads: The nameplate for Castle Class 43.189 seen at Temple Meads - not as stylish as in steam days (see image [[31146]]), but better than some.
Inverness: Inverness station, the depot and triangle, rail container sidings beyond and the Moray Firth as a back drop, at 7am on Sunday 10th September 2023.
Weybourne: 92203 'Black Prince' departing Weybourne with the 1536 departure to Holt on 20th September 2023.
St Combs: There is something ironic about the St Combs bus turning circle being sited where the old railway station was until 1965. The platform and tracks were at a lower level, where the bungalows are now. Behind the camera are the houses visible in image [[84198]] showing a Cravens DMU here in 1964.
Boat of Garten: 'The bag's in!' 60103 'Flying Scotsman' taking on water at Boat of Garten during 'Centenary' workings, and nobody stood in front of the camera!
Glasgow St Enoch: 17 April 1965 and the photogenic 4-6-0 HR 103 is starting out on its tour of the Glasgow and Renfrewshire area from a rather wet Glasgow St Enoch, as part of Easter Rambler No 4. Note the closed engine shed in the background.
Sowerby Bridge: 195104 to Leeds (reversing at Bradford Interchange) arriving at Sowerby Bridge on the unrelentingly wet afternoon of Tuesday, 19th September 2023. This was the train Paul and I took one stop to Halifax as we continued our discovery of the Calder Valley Line stations.
