Glasgow Queen Street High Level: The George Square entrance to the revamped Glasgow Queen Street station, on the evening of Monday, 5th September 2022.
Giffen: Eastfield's B1 4-6-0 61342 was in foreign territory when it visited Giffen on 10 April 1966 as part of the 'Easter Rambler Number 5' tour of Ayrshire. It is seen getting ready to head back to Lugton.
New Brighton: 507010, with the grey brushed metal livery with yellow graphics, stands at New Brighton with 14.38 circular back to here via Liverpool Central. There is a 10 minute turnround time here, which is not enough time to pop down the road outside to look over the sea wall if you are doing the system in a day.
Craigendoran: A 1965 photograph of a Clyde Hover Ferries SRN6 hovercraft arriving at Craigendoran, probably with a service from Greenock. Some railway features (signal, the electrification masts and so on) around the upper and lower platforms of Craigendoran station can be seen in the background. Disembarking from a paddle steamer at Craigendoran pier and strolling through to the station must have been rather more agreeable than traipsing over the beach to get to a platform.
Polmadie Shed: A selection of Standard locomotives at the back of Polmadie engine shed in July 1966. From left to right: 73063, 92249, 80086, 80116 and 73064.
Barnetby: Barnetby East signal box, seen from UK Railtours' excursion from St. Pancras to Cleethorpes, passing on 7th May 2016.
Barnetby: 66419 heads an eastbound freight train at Barnetby on 25th November 2015 almost at sunset. Barnetby was well known for its many and various semaphore signals but just a month after this shot was taken all were swept away in a resignalling scheme.
Blackpool North: Elevated view of Blackpool North, from the nearby car park, in September 2022. The vast majority of Northern services here are in the hands of CAF EMUs and DMUs now. Avanti also run four trains a day to Blackpool.
Stoke Bruerne: Season of mists and mellow fruitfulness - Keats had kicked the proverbial bucket before the S&MJ or any of its constituent parts had been built; but as a sensitive soul, he would no doubt have appreciated the unusual combination of stone, red brick, and blue brick in this arch bridge at Showsley, just to the west of Stoke Bruerne. It has cracks under the arch, but as it is now not likely to carry any dynamic loads heavier than a meandering fox, I don't think we need to worry about it.
Anderston Quay: 'Balmoral' completes a 'flying cant' at Anderston in 1989. Basically a u-turn in the Clyde. Exciting to see but not half as exciting as when PS Waverley did it.
Aberdour: The 'MV Balmoral' calls at Aberdour in 1998.
Taw Valley Halt: Class 73 electro-diesel E6003 'Sir Herbert Walker', S&CR duty passenger locomotive on 24th September 2022, runs round its train at the Taw Valley Halt, suitably framed.
Larbert Junction: A southbound DMU from Dunblane passing through Larbert Junction in the spring of 2015. The train is a Glasgow Queen Street service and is on the route via Carmuirs West and the tunnel under the Union Canal. The line nearest the camera turns towards Carmuirs East and Falkirk Grahamston.
