Rannoch: Rannoch station, with its exhibition and refreshment rooms, looking north from the ex-12.22 service from Glasgow Queen Street to Mallaig, reversing at Fort William, on Wednesday, 7th September 2922. This northbound train is calling at the right-hand side of the island platform, against the normal left hand rule.

Woodacre Crossing: Two TPE 802 sets were unusually out on the WCML on 28th September 2022 and I hoped to catch them crossing at Woodacre but it was not to be. As 802217 passes heading to Edinburgh, 802204 on test/training from Carlisle to Edge Hill can just be seen under the distant footbridge.

Ribble Steam Railway Workshops: Well it won't turn a Duchess, but the new turntable being installed by the Ribble Steam Railway should accommodate the Sentinels and saddle tanks in the fleet and even out any flange wear problems. Seen here in September 2022, awaiting connecting trackwork.

Lancaster Basin: Apart from a very short length by the now filled in Kendal Terminus, the only point on the Lancaster Canal where the towpath moves to the east side of the waterway is a short distance in Lancaster between Bridges 98 and 100. This is the 'Changeline' Bridge 98 where a horse travellng northwards would pass under the arch before climbing round over the bridge without needing to unhitch the rope.

Dunoon Pier: There are numerous proposals about what to do with now disused Dunoon Pier. Argyll and Bute Council are consulting local residents and businesses, and whatever solution is agreed it will cost a lot of money. For the time being the structure and its buildings continue to look quite tired and shabby, as seen here on 16th September 2022.

Stroan Viaduct: Scene a mile west of New Galloway on the former Port Road heading for Stranraer in May 2010. Photograph taken standing alongside Loch Stroan, with the Stroan Viaduct now forming part of a long distance walking route. The main body of the Loch opens up off to the right, while the trackbed of the Port Road continues west towards the remains of the next station on the line at Loch Skerrow.
