Hadfield: The driver of 323238 can be seen making his way along the platform at Hadfield to the other end of the train, something he did a few minutes earlier at Glossop, and will do again in a few minutes at Glossop again on the way back to Manchester. The platform and buildings at this former main line through station, now a branch terminus, are in good order as seen in this 2017 view.

Cromore Halt: The remains of Cromore Halt, formerly Portstewart station, on the Coleraine to Portrush branch. It had closed in 1963 as Portstewart and re-opened as Cromore Halt in 1969 when the branch was revitalised as a result of the new university campus near Coleraine. It closed again in 1988, this time permanently as the platform has been removed although one redundant modern lighting column remains as a reminder of its temporary reincarnation. Some distance from the town it purported to serve, the Portstewart Tramway provided a direct connection to the town until 1926. Photograph taken from the level crossing on 9th August 2019.

St Boswells: A Class 26 enters St Boswells with a northbound service in September 1962. The photographer's notes on the back of the print record the time of day as 11.20 am and the weather as overcast, but do not record the loco number or the departing and incoming trains. But one may fairly conclude that they will have been the up Waverley and the 9.20 am Carlisle- Edinburgh.
