Chippenham Junction: A photograph taken from the front of a Cambridge to Ipswich DMU at Chippenham Junction on 11th August 1979. It shows the corresponding Ipswich to Cambridge service waiting to access the single line section to Newmarket, not long after its resignalling and rationalization. The bridge in the background is part of the A11/A14 road junction.

Ashley: 150127 leads a 4-car Sprinter calling at Ashley on a Manchester Piccadilly to Chester service on 23rd December 2021. The station building here is a private residence as Ashley is now unstaffed. There was once a small goods yard to the right of the point where the train is.

Largs Slip: Largs saw an unexpected visitor on 30/12/21. Hybrid ferry 'Catriona' is seen leaving for Cumbrae Slip. The usual vessel, 'Loch Shira' is out of service with a propulsion fault. The replacement is 'Loch Alainn', back from annual overhaul ... 'Loch Alainn' was moored at the pier, reason unknown.

Pemberton: The pairing of 150136 and 150137, seen earlier in the day departing Blackburn heading to Kirkby, are now seen on the reverse journey departing Pemberton on 14 December 2021.

Nine Elms [Northern Line]: Sign at Nine Elms station, on the Northern Line Battersea Power Station branch, detailing the imminent temporary closure of part of the Bank branch for five months (for rebuilding the platforms at Bank station), seen on the afternoon of New Year's Day, Saturday, 1st January 2022. (The closure does not directly effect the new Battersea Power Station branch as ALL services on this run via Charing Cross anyway.)

Edinburgh Waverley: Bit of a mess. Scene at the west end of Waverley on an overcast September morning in 2007, with all south side through platforms in possession of the engineer. The upheaval was all part of a major works project taking place at that time. A First ScotRail DMU is slowly making its way into platform 13 with a mid-morning arrival from Perth.

Botanic Gardens: An excavator and a dump truck were both busy on the trackbed between the old platforms at Botanic Gardens on 18th December 2021. I would like to think they were preparing for the Glasgow Metro or the new link to Central Low Level but I think it more likely it was clearing debris after Storm Barra. All they have left behind is tyre tracks!

Aberdeen: I noticed this sticking out of the wall in Palmerston Road, Aberdeen, which I assume was a support for the long removed signal gantry. The track must have run very close to the wall at this location. Union Square car park is at the top of the street.

Limerick: Following removal of the car park in front of Limerick station a few years ago the building now faces on to an attractive open pedestrian area. On 29th July 2021 it was devoid of pedestrians due to the rain. The official name of the terminus is Limerick Colbert.

Newcastleton: A3 Pacific 60077, suitably named 'The White Knight', can be seen coming to the rescue of Peak D27, which had gone on fire north of Newcastleton whilst heading the up Waverley. The crew had been able to put out the fire, so D27 and train were to be hauled into Newcastleton by the A3, which one would guess had been commandeered off a northbound freight. After depositing the diesel in a siding, the A3 then took the Waverley tender first to Carlisle.

Leith Central: The frontage of Leith Central Station in 2015. Passenger services ceased in 1952 and use as a diesel depot ended twenty years later. The train shed was demolished to be replaced by a supermarket.
