Causewayend [SR]: In memory of the Slamannan Railway, the eastern terminus of which was here at Causewayend Basin on the Union Canal. Nice that the residents remember the railway.
Bay Horse: Driver training for the TPE 802 sets on the WCML continues, including Sunday workings. Different sets are used, and on 21st November 2021 it was 802206, seen here heading for Preston at Bay Horse. The usual diagram is Craigentinny - Preston - Carlisle - Preston - Craigentinny.
Greenock Container Port: November 2021 aerial view of the Greenock Containerbase. This occupies the area where Greenock Princes Pier G&SWR station was previously. The specialist cruise vessel 'Hebridean Princess' is moored a little further upstream.
Settle Junction: Colas 70814 working 6J37 Carlisle New Yard to Chirk (Kronospan) 'The Logs' passing Settle Junction.
Ladybank Works: Interior of Ladybank Works in 2002. The roof of the shed collapsed subsequently and the site has been cleared.
Craigellachie [2nd]: An NBL Type 2 brings an Elgin-line freight through Craigellachie in August 1965.
Paisley Gilmour Street: A £1.4m project to strengthen and re-paint a railway bridge in Paisley will begin next month. Network Rail will carry out the work from January 10 until the end of April 2022, to infill a vacant building next to the railway, as part of a project designed to extend the lifespan of the structures.
Clapham Common: Clapham Common looking north on 29th November 2021. It was opened by the City & South London Railway as the terminus of the extension from Stockwell on 3rd June 1900 and remained so until the extension to Morden on 13th September 1926. This station and the preceding one at Clapham North comprise a narrow island platform in a single tunnel. Both provide a useful guide to how Angel station, on the northern section of the Northern Line, looked before its full scale rebuilding, completed in 1992.
Long Meg Mine: British Gypsum's Andrew Barclay 0-4-0T 1969/1929 'J N Darbyshire' propels a set of loaded wagons through the woods at Long Meg anhydrite mine, near Little Salkeld, on 3rd July 1967. Note the driver's appropriate headgear. The loco is now a very well presented static exhibit in the museum at the Ribble Steam Railway.
Bradkirk Junction: For a number of years after the 1964 closure of the direct Marton Line to Blackpool Central a short section at the eastern end was used by engineers, mainly for tipping spent ballast. The sidings are now mostly lifted but a set of buffers survives in 2021, seen here from the nearby footbridge looking towards Kirkham. Engineers still use the location to access the surviving Blackpool line that runs alongside.
Broomhill Junction: With a combination of late running, snow showers, poor light and freezing conditions in the late afternoon, I still managed this passable shot of Ivatt Class 2 No.46512 heading for Broomhill at Tullochgorum.
Clunie Lime Siding: 150283 approaches the site of Clunie Lime Siding, which was a trailing dead-end siding serving the loading bank from which the photograph was taken, in 1993.
