Essex Road: 717022, with a Great Northern suburban service to Moorgate, departing from Essex Road on Saturday, 13th November 2021. The station has a rather creepy atmosphere and few people, even in peak hours, seem to use it.
Edinburgh Waverley: 37157 runs through the former suburban lines at Waverley, with an Aberdeen and/or Dundee Freightliner, in 1977. Interesting to see that several of the containers are more like open pallets and could not be stacked like the modern ISO boxes.
Polmadie Shed: Jubilee 4-6-0 45675 'Hardy' is ready to leave Polmadie, to take charge of the 1.25pm summer Saturday train from Glasgow Central to Morecambe in July 1966. As the G & SW route was to be used, a pilot was subsequently attached in the shape of Black 5 44995 (see image [[74300]]), but I think it was provided by Corkerhill rather than Polmadie.
Parklee Signal Box: BR Standard class 4 2-6-0 no 76072 eastbound between Woodhall and Langbank with a Gourock - Glasgow Central semi-fast on a misty and murky 21 September 1963.
Holyhead: A view south over Holyhead station from the Celtic Gateway Bridge in May 2013 with 47580 having arrived with a railtour from Southport.
Burntisland Aluminium Works: A HST passes the disused link into Burntisland Aluminium Works in 1985. The transfer of bauxite by rail seems to have finished around 1980. Newbigging signalbox was abolished in October 1979 with control passed to Edinburgh Signalling Centre. This led to the removal of a crossover and 'wrong line' working from Burntisland East Junction of traffic to BACo until closure. This image shows the sign stating 'Trains run either way on Down line' that covered that period of working.
Porthmadog Harbour [WHR]: Ex-South African Railways NSGG Garrett Class 16 2-6-2 no.87, built 1937 by the engineering firm Cockerill and restored at the Ffestiniog Railway's Boston Lodge works, shunting at Porthmadog Harbour station before being attached to a Welsh Highland Railway train to Caernarfon, on 22nd May 2016.
Carlisle: The summer Saturday 8.25am Morecambe to Glasgow, arriving at Carlisle on 19th August 1967 behind Black Five 45349. The front and one side of the Black Five, facing the morning sunlight and most of the cameras passed en route, had received 'MNA' treatment during the night. The far side was just as dirty as usual.
Livingston South: Station rebuild in progress at Livingston South in April 2018. View is west, with ScotRail 158734 calling on its way to Glasgow Central via Shotts. Meantime, electrification work on the line continues on both sides of the station (note the catenary beyond the platforms). For a view from the station car park on the same day see image [[78241]].
